Consuming endless amounts of shit

There is shit. Everywhere. It’s on your phone, on your TV, on your computer, on your gaming console. It’s in the cinema and on the radio. It’s present everywhere. You cannot escape it. They make sure of that. And slowly but surely it seeps into your mind. Drop by drop. Until your poor, poor brain is completely drenched in shit juices. Now it’s not only on the screens surrounding you, it’s in your head. Your thoughts are now shit, too. How does it feel to have a mind made out of shit?

Shit is the new omnipresent thing. It’s everywhere. If God is omnipresent, that makes shit the new God. We are knee deep in that shit and there doesn’t seem to be a way out. Major streaming platforms like Disney, Netflix and Amazon keep on producing movies and series that are… I said it often enough now, didn’t I? Shit. Shit no one asked for. Shit no one wants to watch. Big music labels release shitty new albums that sound exactly like everything the artist did on their last album. It’s just rehashed shit. And thanks to Social Media we have the great opportunity to share our own personal shit with the rest of the planet. And we consume, and consume, and consume. And this consumption of shit will change you. Since it’s the only thing you do you start caring about it, you get all entangled with it. Congratulations! You now officially care about shit!

Ever wondered why the 80s or 90s are so glorified in media? Why they just feel better than what we have today? Did you ever ask yourself why you have certain memories of a time that felt easy and fun? That actually had meaning? And why on earth is the last memory like this from so long ago?!

The answer is stupidly simple: You were not consuming shit all day.

We could now blame the big corporations, that serve this shit, all day long. Of course they want you addicted to their shit. Duh. The problem here is not THEM. They just want to make money like every one else. The problem here is YOU. They are the shit dealers, but you are consuming the shit. Who is the smarter one? The one selling the shit, or the one buying it? And now don’t say “I’m not buying it, it’s free!” Even if you don’t pay with money, you still pay. And with something far more important. You are trading your time for entertainment and pleasure. You are trading it for shit. And if you look at it, it’s really not your time you are trading with. It’s your life.

If you want your life to feel special and meaningful again, if you want to create magical memories again, instead of living in the same dull cycle that you call your life, you need to stop. You need to stop consuming that shit. It’s that simple, really. Put that phone down. Watch an actually good movie. Read a book. Touch some grass. Go on a run. Talk to people. Do something new. Have an adventure. And you will see how everything turns around in no time. Spit out the shit and start living.
